(please distribute, and apologies for cross-postings)

The UNDL Foundation has launched the project UGO (Universal Generation cOrpus), which aims at providing natural language equivalents for UNL graphs. The project UGO is open to any participant holding CUP500 and is funded for all languages. Undergraduate and graduate students of Language Studies and Translation Studies from minority and less-resourced languages are especially welcomed.

=============================
Project UGO
=============================
UGO is a repository of UNL graphs depicting basic structures of UNL. It is divided into 6 different subprojects (UGO-A1 to UGO-C2), according to the different levels of complexity, each of which comprising 250 structures. As in any project hosted by the UNLweb, the results will be available under an Attribution Share Alike (CC-BY-SA) Creative Commons license, which means that anyone may use the resources, provided that authors are cited and that the derivative work is released under the same or a similar license.

=============================
Goals
=============================
The project UGO has two main goals:
To provide a translation memory from UNL to natural language, in order to be used for inducing UNL>NL grammars; and
To provide standards for fully-automatic sentence-driven NLization, to be used as a parameter for evaluating the precision of UNL>NL grammars.

=============================
Methodology
=============================
Tasks are distributed upon availability and are carried out in a distance-working environment through a specific web interface, the UNLarium.

=============================
Requisites
=============================
In order to join UGO, users must be registered to the www.unlweb.net and must have completed CUP500. CUP500, a certificate of proficiency in UNL, may be obtained at VALERIE, the Virtual Learning Environment for UNL, available at www.unlweb.net.

=============================
Payment
=============================
Payment is done every month through PayPal according to the UNLdot system. Each natural language mapping provided to each graph corresponds to 1 (one) UNLdot. A UNLdot is a unit of time and complexity for measuring the effort spent in performing UNL-related tasks, and its value depends on the user's expertise.

=============================
About us
=============================
The UNDL Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, which has received, from the United Nations, the mandate for implementing the Universal Networking Language (UNL). The UNL is an artificial language that has been used for several different tasks in natural language engineering, such as machine translation, multilingual document generation, summarization, information retrieval and semantic reasoning. It has been, since 1996, a unique initiative to reduce language barriers and strengthen cross-cultural communication in the framework of the UN.
