Which should be the attribute for "-er" in the case of "silencer"? @producer?
silencer = a tubular acoustic device inserted in the exhaust system that is designed to reduce noise

I don't think that silencer can be reduced to silence.@producer. Note
that this would only mean "something that produces silence". In the
definition below, the idea that this is a specific (tubular) device
should be taken into consideration.
