Help displaying relations and attributes

Hello,

I am new to this site. I am having trouble seeing the semantic relations, or any of the semantic data inside a UW. I am going to the dictionary under UNLarium, browsing, and clicking a random word. I see the english definition and some other data. However, I do not see the (code) for the word. There is an icon titled "semantic relations"; however, when I press it nothing comes up.

I have tried IE, Chrome, Firefox in both Windows and Linux. I have the latest java installed on both platforms. Additionally, I have disabled pop-ups.

Do I need a higher access level to see the code for a word? Or is there something else I am missing?

Dear Jonathan,

As indicated in http://www.unlweb.net/wiki/index.php/UW, UWs have been represented as 9-digit strings with the format <POS><WORDNETID>, where <POS> = {1,2,3,4}, being 1 = noun, 2 = verb, 3 = adjective and 4 = adverb; and <WORDNETID> is the synset ID in the WordNet30. In that sense, you’ll find, for every UW, the UW itself (which is actually its code); the corresponding headwords in English; the corresponding lexical realisations in several different languages; the definition in English (extracted from the WordNet); examples, if any; the corresponding features; and the metadata (author, editor, revisor, etc). We plan to replace the headwords in English by the natural language representation of the UW (“table(icl>furniture)” instead of simply “table”, for instance), but we’re still discussing strategies for that, because there have been many competing proposals on how to extract the suffix out of the KB). For the time being, we’re simply using 104379243 for the UW, and its lexical realisations in English for the headwords.

As for the function “semantic relations”, we had disabled it in the UNL dictionary because it is now covered by the UNL KB, where you may check any relations between UWs (and not only synonymy, hyponymy, hypernymy and antonymy).

Thank you for the reply.

I understand that there are plain english definitions of these universal words. However, I guess what I'm mainly looking for is complete samples of UNL sentences and paragraphs. It was my understanding that one of the UNDL projects was to put portions of the WordNet dictionary in UNL format, such as relation(UW,UW)@attribute, etc.

Dear Jonathan,

It seems that you’re looking for a corpus in UNL, i.e., documents written in UNL. You will find that at UNLWEB>UNLARIUM>CORPUS. There you may browse or export any of the ongoing UNLization projects: Le Petit Prince, IGLU, EOLSS, LIS, etc.
