Dear All,
This is to inform you that:
a) We have concluded the discussion phase of the III UNL Olympiad. The
UNDL Foundation will now carefully analyze the issues raised in the
UNLforum (at www.unlweb.net/forum) and the official corpus will be
released by Feb 15th, when the competition will officially start. We
would like to thank all users that participated in this discussion
phase for their contributions.
b) The UNDL Foundation is reorganizing the rules of its Internship
Program in Computational Linguistics. From February on, interns will
receive a fixed scholarship instead of being paid according to the
number of UNLdots. The duration of the internship will be fixed in 3
(three) months, extendable to other 3 (i.e., 6 months maximum, as it
is today), depending on the evaluation of the performance of the
intern. The selection process has also been modified and will now be
based on specific calls for participation. The new rules are available
at www.unlweb.net/internship and are valid only to new interns.
c) Given the discrepancies, redundancies and other problems that we
have been having with the grammar modules inside the UNLarium, we have
decided that the grammars will no longer be open to freelancer work.
They will now be restricted to language managers linked to partner
institutions who will be responsible for the organization and the
maintenance of grammar modules. Accordingly, the remuneration of the
grammar will also change. Further instructions on this process will be
released soon. The rules already submitted will be analyzed and paid
as in the past, but the possibility of adding new rules to the system
will not be available from tomorrow on. These changes do not affect
the work with the dictionaries and corpora (i.e., the assignments).
Best regards,
Ronaldo.
