C-rule

Compounding or composition is the word-formation process of creating compound lexemes by combining or putting together old words (such as in fireman or hardware). The meanings of the words interrelate in such a way that a new meaning comes out which is very different from the meanings of the words in isolation.

Expressing compounds in the UNL^arium

In the UNL^arium framework, compounds are only expressed if the lemma is different from the base form, i.e., in case of discontinuous multi-word expressions or with infixation (such as "give in" or "take into account"). Compounds are always expressed by subcategorization rules.
